Candy Dulfer is a Dutch alto saxophonist and singer of jazz funk, smooth jazz and pop -jazz born 19 September 1969 in Amsterdam.
She is the daughter of tenor saxophonist Hans Dulfer , with whom she has recorded the album Dulfer & Dulfer in 2001. Candy began her career at age 12 when she played in a band with Rosa King, an American expatriate living in the Netherlands . Quickly, Candy created his own band , Funky Stuff, who was invited to play for Madonna during a part of his European tour.
It is revealed to the public by Prince , who enters his band and introduced to the public in its clip Partyman . Then Candy recorded with Dave Stewart of Eurythmics guitarist and producer, a successful duo , Lily Was Here theme that serves the Dutch film of the same name and reached the 6th place in the UK charts . She also performed on stage as a musician for Pink Floyd in 1990 . His first album Saxuality appears at the end of the year. With its funky alto style that appeals to fans of smooth jazz , she received a Grammy nomination for the album certified gold.
Candy Dulfer also appears as a guest on the live A Night in San Francisco album of Van Morrison ( 1994). She participated in the 2003 Jazz Festival in Juan Antibes Juan -les- Pins in occurring in the same evening as Maceo Parker , front facing at the beginning of his concert at the noisy demonstration of the entertainment industry in which it dedicates his song Power To The People/ Heavily influenced by Sonny Rollins and David Sanborn, is a major source of inspiration for musicians such as smooth jazz guitarist Joyce Cooling and saxophonists Mindi Abair and Pamela Williams.
